Enough lies and deceptions on what’s really happening on the Gaza-Israeli security border
The anti-Israel Letters to the Editor published on May 18th and May 22nd in the Scranton Times are a distortion of the truth. The truth is that Hamas is recognized as a terrorist organization that seeks the destruction of Israel and the murder of every Jew – by its own admission. Hamas called for the rioters to “bring knives, daggers or guns,” and embedded its own forces in the crowds, ready to kill and kidnap Israelis once a border breach had been achieved. It deliberately caused over 62 (or 80%) of its own people to get killed and Hamas officials even admitted that the vast majority of those killed were Hamas terrorists!
They sent thousands of civilians to the front line as human shields for these terrorists trying to break through the Israeli-Gaza border with the sole intention (in the words of their own leaders) to break through the security fence between Israel and Gaza and slaughter every Jew they encountered in order to establish an Islamic State in place of Israel.
On Facebook, Hamas even posted maps for their operatives showing the quickest routes from the border with Israel to Israelis’ homes, schools, and day-care centers. Does that sound like a peaceful protest to you? According to Hamas, the protest was designed to break through the border, to kill Israelis and destroy Israel. Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar said as much when he said that the aim of the border riots is to “tear down Israel’s border and tear out their hearts”. Hamas also provided free transportation from throughout Gaza to the border for civilians, including women and children and hired them as extras – paying $14 a person or $100 a family for attendance – and $500 if they managed to get injured! Hamas also forced all of its commanders and operatives to go to the border dressed as civilians, each serving as a director of an area.
The media has insisted that the riots have been “peaceful protests”. Apparently, grenades, Molotov cocktails, fire kites designed to ignite Israeli wheat fields near the border, grenades, pipe bombs, guns, burning tires, machetes and planting improvised explosive devises (IEDs) at the security border don’t quite hit the media’s bar for what constitutes Palestinian violence. Even Mahmoud Zahar, one of Hamas’ founders, said that calling what happened in Gaza peaceful protests was a clear “deception”!
Unfortunately, a “two-state solution” has never been on Hamas’s agenda as its own founding document states. Rather, Hamas’s goal (in its own words) is “blood… in the path of jihad.” One would have thought that the millions it receives in humanitarian aid relief for education, hospitals, food, medicine, electricity, loans to encourage business growth and the construction of residential homes should be spent on improving the lives of its own citizens as opposed to using these humanitarian aid dollars to buy weapons, to fund “martyrs’ families, and to build tunnels to allow terrorists a subterranean entry to Israeli communites bordering Gaza for the purpose of murdering Israeli civilians. News media and governments, always ready to rush to judgment against Israel, didn’t bother to look beyond the slick packaging and phony messaging coming from Hamas.
So, I ask every U.S. citizen ……how would the U.S. military respond if a jihadist terror group sent thousands to flood our borders and gunmen to massacre our communities? Our failure to admit that Hamas is responsible for every drop of blood spilt on the Gaza border encourages their violence and their use of human shields.
It makes those who blame Israelis for defending their country complicit in further bloodshed. Is a nation not allowed to defend itself from terrorists dedicated to the murder of its citizens and the destruction of its country and its replacement by an Islamic state? Even the Arab countries do not intend to do anything to assist Hamas in making its campaign a success. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, and Bahrain are in fact working hard against Hamas in Gaza because even they see Hamas as an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood which is subverting Arab regimes in the Middle East.
If Israel had allowed these terrorists to break through the security fence, the Israeli army would then have been forced to defend their own civilians from slaughter and many more Palestinians would have been killed. Israel’s actions therefore saved the lives of Gazans; and if the nations of the world really cared about human rights, they should commend the Israeli army for that and not condemn them on the basis of lies perpetrated to the media by a recognized terrorist organization.
Hamas is dedicated to eliminating Israel and every Jew in that country and will never agree to transform itself into a “normal” government. It is a violent terrorist organization and this confrontation was encouraged and led by Hamas solely for the purpose of Israel’s destruction. The goal was obviously to overrun the border, get into Israel, and kill and destroy as much as possible. To the degree that people were killed is entirely on the shoulders of Hamas. To the degree that Israel had no choice but to defend its country from an invasion designed to destroy and slaughter its citizens should be beyond question.
